Earlier this morning when I woke-up, I found a supposed “past due” bill by National Grid for my Home in my emails. I was very confused as I had contacted them a few weeks ago, so they could reimburse me for overpaying my bill by a wrongful double-pay from their automatic payment system that I’m enrolled in. Yet, the Yahoo email service said I was past due on a bill to them. I clicked it and what had happened was their Yahoo AI system created a fake energy bill. That is, it took the data from my incoming bill which will be paid via an automatic payment much later this month and then changed the language to say it was “past due” and that I needed to pay immediately. Obviously, this initially caused panic until I went to my National Grid website and found that it was not overdue at all. With all due respect, how is this even legal?
