I wrote a comment in which I mentioned that Canadian DEI consulting companies and video game journalists behaving as activists aren’t really helping anyone and casually mentioned, among many human rights arguments, that Transgender people suffer the most from homelessness and street violence in the United States; which, according to the statistics that I’ve read is a true statement of fact. I was put on warning by Reddit for “discriminating against Transgender people” – this is dehumanization of Transgender people. If I can’t literally talk or say anything, pointing to verifiable statistical facts in which Trans people suffer violence at higher rates than any other minority group, and you’re silencing me from pointing out what sort of harassment Transgender people experience on a regular basis, then who is this helping other than their assailants? In what way is being barred from talking about this not pro-dehumanization of the worst sort? Reddit’s behavior reads more like privileged, wealthy people making up whatever fantasies they want to believe and then deluding themselves into thinking anyone who disagrees is a bigot.
In all honesty, I think this reveals that there’s serious flaws with making social media platforms into publicly traded stock companies, because the moment Elon Musk took over, Twitter no longer threatened you with warnings, suspensions, and bans for misunderstood word choices or misread sentences. I think I’ll just stop using Reddit for a while and put in a social media blocker. What a disappointing, obnoxiously run website created for billionaire morons who get away with child rape like Jeffrey Epstein’s mistress, Ghislaine Maxwell, and then they punish people who point out human rights abuses because we care about Transgender people. I’ve appealed, but the fact that this was moderated as promoting hate means that Reddit genuinely doesn’t read comments at all. Cancel Culture and DEI have been a complete and total disaster; I don’t understand how it’ll ever create a world where Transgender people are free from threats of violence, if you can’t even peacefully communicate why anti-Trans bigotry is wrong and get put into warning or threatened with bans… for mentioning statistical facts about the violence that Transgender people face. I don’t know what else to call this but genuinely one of the most dehumanizing, hateful policies ever conceived by any company on any group of people.
