I’ve noticed, due to the Sweet Baby Inc fiasco, that people have been using this website without perhaps fully understanding what the website itself is actually advocating. I had seen it linked via a number of Youtubers who perhaps thought it was merely a useful anti-woke website since John F. Trent does indeed do a spectacular job of finding interviews and breaking down problems of forced DEI measures in video games. Unfortunately, when I browsed his other content, I found his explicit anti-Trans arguments and decided to click off and ignore the website. Due to the justified rebuke of Sweet Baby Inc’s absolutely pathetic and disgusting harassment of Steam’s “Sweet Baby Inc Detected” page, their harassment campaign on Twitter of the person who created that page, and their ridiculously bigoted views such as their desire to shut down Quentin Tarantino’s works; ThatParkPlace’s utility in concretely understanding what’s going on helps more than perhaps ever before. I was thinking of adding my own criticisms to DEI initiatives, but there’s been so many Youtubers critiquing the issue that I didn’t feel as if I had anything of substance to add that wasn’t already stated in those many Youtube criticism videos. I have no problems with Trent criticizing DEI initiatives and this is not an attempt to defend the cult of Woke or DEI initiatives at all. However, John F. Trent makes it clear that he doesn’t value gay marriage and doesn’t believe that Trans people deserve human rights on the basis of his Catholic faith, which he repeatedly shares on his blog. He makes his stance clear repeatedly and I’d like to share one example where he attacked Brandon Sanderson for Sanderson’s change of views from the early 2000s to what his stance is now. On May 20th of this year of 2024, John F. Trent wrote a lengthy article condemning Brandon Sanderson for Sanderson’s shift in supporting LGBT human rights, Sanderson’s explicit support for gay marriage, his explicit support for Trans rights, and his donations to LGBT non-profits to help LGBT people. You can click here to see Sanderson’s new pro-human rights stance. If you believe I’m lying or don’t want to check give any attention to ThatParkPlace, I’ll just share the majority of John F. Trent’s own article and here’s the link, if you believe I’m taking it out of context:
That being said, now that I know of Sanderson’s shift in political views, his explicit support for LGBT human rights, and his donations to his local LGBT non-profit causes in Utah; I’m going to purchase the Mistborn trilogy now. Thanks for spreading the good news, John F. Trent! 🙂
